More and more people that have been suffering on-going ailments and illnesses are experiencing relief through the use of natural remedies. Natural remedies have been effective in relieving the symptoms of many common illnesses for many hundreds of years before the pharmaceutical industry developed. For a very long time, the only way to treat an illness was through the use of natural remedies.

A vast knowledge has been accumulated throughout the centuries and was previously not easily accessible. Luckily this situation has changed, and nowadays this information is available to every person with access to the internet.

THE WONDERS OF NATURAL REMEDIES
Natural remedies have also inspired modern day science to come up with the drugs that millions of people now use. For example, penicillin has its origin in natural remedies. A Mold that forms on bread is one of the root ingredients of penicillin.
Chicken soup may not be a wonder drug as a natural remedy, but it contains some nutrients that help to strengthen the immune system and is also helpful for assisting the body to fight colds and flu. Many people are familiar with the fact that chicken soup is used to relieve the symptoms of the common cold. As well as relieving some of the cold and flu symptoms, the soup will help you to gain strength and energy and will make you feel less fatigued.
Aloe Vera, a plant, is another natural remedy being used more and more.
Aloe Vera doubles as a beautiful house plant, but when crushed, the juice from the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant can help in the relief of minor burns and abrasions and also help reduce eczema.

Indigenous peoples of European and Asian countries discovered natural remedies for their common use. These developing nations have enjoyed and trusted the health benefits plus curative power of natural remedies for thousands of years.
Large numbers of pharmacies, large discount stores and even large health food store chains now carry natural remedies on their shelves due to the growing popularity of a holistic health approach. Today natural remedies are seen as an alternative medicine, but years ago, millions of people benefited from their use, as they were the only medicine available.
Natural remedies for reduction of swelling include drinking pineapple juice, chamomile tea, comfrey, white oak bark, mugwort, dill, and oregano. All of these natural remedies work to reduce swelling when used as beverages. Common problems like boils can be effectively treated with natural remedies. Discovering the wonders of natural remedies can improve a person’s life in many ways as there are natural remedies available for most ailments. With this in mind, it is easy to see that a natural remedy is worth a try for almost any minor health problem.
Another reason more people are turning to natural remedies is the reduced likelihood of side affects.

The human body and natural ingredients are all a part of nature’s universe and are more naturally compatible. So many prescription drugs come with a very long list of possible side effects. The human body actually has a great ability to heal itself, combine this with a healthy diet and lifestyle and many ailments can be avoided. The biggest concern to world health is the overuse of drugs to try and cure ailments like the common cold. Even though it is widely accepted there is no cure for the common cold, people still insist on trying to cure the symptoms with drugs and antibiotics. The better option is to at least try and reduce the symptoms with remedies like ginger that promotes sweating and helps to clear mucus from the lungs, throat and nose.

For the common cold try grating an inch of fresh ginger into a saucepan with 2 cups of water. Simmer it gently for about 10 minutes then strain it and drink it. If you’re suffering from a sore throat as well, add some honey and a little lemon juice. Honey has been used for hundreds of years as a natural wound healer and is well known for it’s antibacterial activity and it’s ability to reduce inflammation.

Also Sinusitis can sometimes be caused by the mucus membranes in the sinus cavities becoming inflamed. Consuming Manuka honey in particular has been found to ease the symptoms of sinusitis by reducing the bacteria and the inflammation.

Drink 8 Glasses of Water a Day – Fact or Fiction?

Do we really benefit from drinking a lot of water? Absolutely YES! The benefits are so many, I could write a book on the subject but here’s just a few to get you motivated. Firstly, before we get to the extra benefits we must be aware that the body has a minimum water requirement to function. If you’re only having a couple of glasses of water a day you are barely giving your body what it needs to function and you won’t see any added benefits. Our cells and muscles need to be hydrated to function efficiently or you will suffer from fatigue. We need fluid to transport waste products and the kidneys need a good supply of water to help with this important task. Our brain must be hydrated to function at it’s full capability or this adds to the fatigue. So what happens if we really step up the water intake?

Will I really feel better if I drink more water?

Where to begin? How about, more energy, heightened brain function, younger looking skin, weight loss. More importantly and I know you’ve heard this before “Prevention is better than a cure”. Drink more water and you’ll be certain to suffer less ailments including stomach, reflux, colds, sore throat, headaches, joint pain, kidney stones, constipation. That’s just a few but that should be enough reason to start drinking more water right away. If you’re not drinking much water, you would not even realize your brain is not operating to it’s full potential. Some of these ailments also lead to more serious problems, constipation for example can lead to much worse symptoms. If you or anyone you know has suffered severe kidney stones pain, that alone would be enough to make you drink more water. Keep in mind, if you live in a hot climate or you engage in physical activity or both, you should drink even more water. If you feel like a break from drinking that much water, introduce some water melon into your daily snacks.

Keep in mind never to use natural remedies to substitute a prescribed drug without consulting your doctor first.
